Frost & ground conditions

Even where a building permit is not required, the City notes that decks and porches still need to comply with applicable zoning requirements and other regulations. Property setbacks, easements, grading, conservation or Escarpment considerations, and the specific scope of work can also affect planning.
Requirements can change, so property owners and contractors should confirm the current rules for the specific project with the City of Hamilton Building Division before construction begins.
