Concrete and helical piles can both form durable structural foundations, but they reach that result differently. Concrete work can involve excavation, spoil removal, forming, reinforcement, concrete delivery, placement, curing, cleanup, and restoration. Helical piles are installed mechanically using hydraulic equipment and can support the next stage of construction without a concrete curing period.

For decks, additions, porches, boardwalks, slopes, wet ground, and access-sensitive residential sites, reduced excavation and faster installation can make screw piles particularly useful. Basements, large continuous foundation walls, and some slab systems may still require poured concrete. Engineering and actual site conditions should guide the final decision.
